Taijitu

Like other works in my catalog, Taijitu is inspired by symbolic reflection, here dedicated to the famous representation of the yin-yang relationship. The strong notions of circularity, complementarity, cause-and-effect relationships, and the resulting completeness are reflected in varying degrees in this piece: the number π, generator of the reservoirs of notes used; the evolving relationship of the discourse between the two instruments; the circular form, with no explicitly defined beginning or end.
Taijitu was commissioned by and dedicated to the Phebus Duo (Hélène Petit and Martin Descamps). Taijitu was premiered by the Phebus Duo on December 5, 2023 at the Ferme du Biéreau in Louvain-la-Neuve.
